We started in 2018 because we kept seeing the same problem. Australian businesses needed skilled staff, but local hiring was slow and expensive. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka had a growing pool of English-speaking, university-educated professionals who were hard to reach without a local presence.
We chose Colombo for specific reasons. Sri Lanka produces over 30,000 graduates a year in IT, finance, and business. English is widely spoken in professional settings. The time zone (4.5 hours behind AEST) gives you a genuine overlap for collaboration, plus completed work waiting in your inbox each morning. And the cost of living means you pay less without asking people to accept less.
We began with a small team placing IT support staff for a handful of Australian clients. As word spread, our clients asked for more: marketing support, virtual assistants, data analysts, bookkeepers. By 2023, we ran five service lines from our Colombo office.
In 2024, we rebranded to Anemos, a Greek word meaning wind. The name reflects how we work: quietly, in the background, moving things forward. Today, every engagement is overseen by Australian management, with weekly reviews between our Melbourne and Colombo teams.

Weekly Management Cadence
Every week, our Australian management meets with Colombo team leaders to review workloads, flag issues, and check priorities. Every fortnight, individual teams hold their own review sessions. Problems get caught in days, not months.
